Global mission
begins with God and it begins on our own doorstep. New Hope continues to not only value its rich heritage of supporting global missions but also seeks to build upon that heritage with a fresh perspective of reaching the end-time harvest fields by encouraging, envisioning and equipping a growing church to reach out to the Waterside and to the rest of the world.

New Hope's many missionary projects are grateful for its Pentecostal foundations from which came its heart for world missions at its inception. Through different stages of New Hope’s history it has never lost its call to bring the gospel to the ends of the earth.

In our early days the church known as The Pentecostal Mission was instrumental in sending and supporting missionaries to the northwest region of Brazil EAB (Evangelical Action Brazil), formerly known as Gospel to Brazil. We continue to support EAB and support and encourage a number of other individuals and organizations. We are involved in various works in Uganda with building projects, schools, teaching pastors and we send teams over on a regular basis to see where help is needed.

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

Local mission
Part of New Hope’s vision is to be a church that effectively impacts every aspect of the local community with the love and acceptance that Christ offers.

At the moment we are doing that in many ways, and hope to develop further outreach programmes as we see the opportunity.

Little Acorns, our parent and toddler group, has been impacting the community for many years, offering support and encouragement to families in a variety of ways. Not only does Little Acorns provide entertainment for the youngsters, but offers the parent(s) some time to put their feet up with a cup of tea or coffee and the opportunity for a chat. Little Acorns also runs courses such as computer studies, nail art courses, parenting skills and so on. In this way, we impact the community by offering an opportunity for people to expand their skills free of charge.

New Hope has a vibrant and exciting Youth Work 'authentic', which we believe has a major impact into the lives of the youth of our community, and in offering a hand of friendship and support across the generational divide, we hope to turn around the hopelessness that seems to pervade many of our young people today and set them on their feet with a new perspective of their potential and worth.

New Hope’s home groups, Connect, seek to be havens of safety to unhappy and lonely people from the community who feel uncomfortable attending church yet find comfort and new hope in the safe informal environment of the cell group. The good news of salvation is presented in a social format without pressure, and many new friends are made. Prayer, our most powerful outreach tool, is a focal point of the Connect groups and there have been many amazing answers and results to heart-felt prayer within this setting. Connect groups are the also the place of encouragement, support, growth and study for church members, and is the best way to build relationships and be connected to church life.

New Hope also presents OASIS, our regular Tuesday morning get togethers with lunch and entertainment for the local community. Of course, New Hope’s Sunday morning meetings are working to impact the community as we follow God’s vision for us. We also have N.A. meetings and Debt Counselling for those who need help and advice.

New Hope desires to reach out through a variety of activities that seek to show Christ’s love in our local community, to bring salvation, deliverance and healing to a hurting generation. We work to establish a positive and life-related perspective of the church in today’s world and to bring new hope to a needy society.

BRAZIL

Evangelical Action Brazil, first named "The Gospel to Brazil Faith Mission" is a Christian Evangelical charity which has been active in North East Brazil since 1938.

The Mission is based in Patos, a rural town in the state of Paraiba, four hundred miles south of the equator. It is a semi-arid area particularly prone to drought and epidemic. Paraiba is also a particularly poor part of Brazil. It has an infant mortality rate of fifteen times higher than Britain, a life expectancy of less than fifty years, ten years less than the Brazilian national average, and more than two out of three of it's children suffer from some form of malnutrition. Less than one fifth of it's houses have any sanition, electricity or running water.

It was into this environment that GTB's founder Albert Mundy felt God calling him in 1930. It wasn't until 1938, however that he arrived with his wife Daisy to begin the work. The early years were difficult and often dangerous but the work flourished, establishing its first church building in 1943. In March 1949, Frank and Ivy Dyer sailed for Brazil to begin a dedicated life of service for GTB, Ivy still continues to serve to this day. The present Director John Medcraft married Elizabeth - the Dyer's daughter - in 1969, moving to Brazil in 1972, taking over the Directorship from Frank Dyer after his death in 1987.

Today Gospel to Brazil renamed Evangelical Action Brazil continues to thrive and grow in its fruitfulness. Whilst evangelism and Christian teaching have always formed the central core of its activities, EAB believes practical social work to be a fundamental part of the Gospel message. Through its ministry in the community EAB has gained great respect amongst the people as well as establishing much favour with local officials as they demonstrate God's love and grace through many practical works.
